Default Tour de Yorkshire

It looks like the rate payers of Yorkshire are going to be footing an enormous
extra bill for the kiddies' cycle race:

The organisers of the Tour de France's launch in England this summer have
underestimated the potential cost of the event by £2.3m, a report claims.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-26679085

Still - the Yorkshire rate-payers will not mind contributing even more than
they are doing already.

This is incorrect.

The average age of TDF winners is just over 28 years. The average age
of French cyclists in their first TDF is about 25 years.

It is not a race for "kiddies".

Incidentally, there is research that shows that the TDF riders live
considerably longer than average. Having the race is therefore likely
to be a net benefit even if only viewing the probable health benefits
to those who are encouraged to emulate these fine examples. Think of
the children!

Motorists pay £46 billion a year in extra taxes, specifically so they
can use the roads.
Less than £10 billion of this is spent on roads.
Q: Do cyclists pay any specific, extra taxes in order to use their
vehicles on the road?
A: No. They are sponging freeloaders.

Bicycles are for Children. Like masturbation, something you should grow
out of.
There is something seriously sick and stunted about grown men who want
to ride a bike."

the motorists consume far more resources, and they mightily pollute
the air of fair england...

they should be paying extra noise and air pollution taxes...
and still more for taking up so much space

Will do: I will think of the children in the local authorities who have had
their libraries and swimming baths closed whilst the LAs are funding this
childish event.

Do you dispute the £46 billion a year?

the motorists consume far more resources, and they mightily pollute
the air of fair england...

Which resources? Can you show the invoices for them?

they should be paying extra noise and air pollution taxes...
and still more for taking up so much space

Nope. Cycle lanes & those bloody silly ASLs delay traffic, preventing
the most efficient use of the I C engine. Slow moving cyclists cause
long queues of traffic unable to pass.

Which resources? Can you show the invoices for them?
