Eddie dear, mommy just finished making dinner. Whenever you're done
down in the basement you can come up and eat. It's your favorite
tonight, Spagetti O's!

Italian cuisine no longer appeals to me since I have had to give up my
beloved Livingston Cellars Red Rose wine. The wine was causing my feet to
tingle and go numb. I now have only cups of cocoa made with skim milk. So
far no more feet tingling and numbness. I wonder if I might be on the verge
of diabetes?

Anyone who considers Spagghett O's Italian cuisine is in dire need of
a taste bud transplant.

I am also getting a mysterious shooting pain in my legs. I wonder if this
might be atherosclerosis?

Well, get back to me any old time as I love to discuss all of my health
ailments with perfect strangers like you.

PS. Note to Tom Sherman: This message from Cowpunk originated from Google
Groups and the quoting hierarchy was correct on my Windows Mail newsreader,
thus validating my analysis that some just do not know how to post from
Google Groups.

I have a great contempt for food in general. I consider it something that
you partake of only for nourishment and energy. I NEVER dine out. In fact,
dining out is repulsive to me. Everyone should eat at home alone and the
less said about it the better.

I understand that there are food and restaurant critics who write articles
in newspapers about their dining out experiences. Why? My God, I cannot
think of a more wasteful expenditure of one's time and resources. The world
is full of idiots, of that there can be no doubt.

I have led a rich life of the mind and of the spirit. Even cycling has been
part of that for me.

When I was young and foolish I partook of the world and what it had to
offer. Alas, it was not for me. I discovered philosophy early on and it has
determined everything. It seemed the more I did without, the fuller I
became. Finally I would like to end up with nothing at all. It is the way we
come into the world and it most assuredly is the way we go out of it.

That is what I am here for. You can babble on about how computers are going
to take over the world and I will babble on about how human nature is never
going to change. I have several thousand years of history in back of my
proposition; you have nothing in back of your proposition except the very
minimal ability of a computer to play a game of chess better than any human.

That very minimal ability is something that was not even possible just
a few short years ago and the same will be said as computers continue
to evolve and are able to perform tasks that they cannot now perform.
Just as human nature changes, so too will computers. It is not my
proposition so much as the proposition of computer scientists and
artifical intelligence experts who know more about the potential of
the computer than you know about the potential of human nature.

Just as human nature changes, so too will computers.

But human nature does not change. It is the same now as it was tens of
thousands of years ago when we first evolved into our present species.
Technology does change, but not human nature. Culture can change us on the
surface, but that does not go very deep. Culture, like civilization
itself, is just a veneer that is quickly shed whenever necessary. Our
brute human natures are never shed.

It is not my
proposition so much as the proposition of computer scientists and
artifical intelligence experts who know more about the potential of
the computer than you know about the potential of human nature.

There is no potential to human nature which has not already been exhibited
millions of times already. Unless you change our genes ("Brave New
World"), we will remain forever the way we have always been ("1984"). Once
a species becomes fixed, there is no change possible.

Now, at least, you know why I am a conservative politically!

Great Saint Edward - Some Suggestions.

It's a shame one has to sort through tons of JimmyMac/Ed Gin rants along
with your other pointless horse**** just to get to the pony. Anyway I'm
saving your little pearl of wisdom found in this post. I refuse to read the
witless JimmyMac crap, but it sure is tiresome slogging past the wordy
sludge. I suggest you ignore JimmyMac and direct all your ranting toward
Mr. Sherman. I'm sure it would be well deserved since you and possibly
others have called him, according to his recollection "a Communist, Al Qaeda
(many of whom now have some sense of how cornered rats must feel) supporter,
Saddam Hussein (now deceased along with his evil sons) supporter, Kim Il
Jung (unfortunately not deceased) supporter, an anti-Semite, a terrorist
sympathizer, a rectal opening, anti-American,an extremist wacko nut, a god
dammed liberal, a piece of excrement, and an apologist for murder: this list
is by no means exhaustive." In the face of all this you shouldn't squander
your precious sainthood on the likes of a JimmyMac or Ed Gin . Besides
Mr.Sherman has a sharp wit and easily puts you in your place, which he seems
to enjoy and as you must know Great Saints require humbling. Plus you
really should be encouraging Mr. Sherman dazzle any recumbent newbies who
accidently stumble in here with his encyclopedic knowledge of recumbent
bicycle technical minutiae. Surely as night follows day these newbies will
be liberals or progressives as they prefer to be called these days (they
change their name from time to time always hoping for public acceptance [the
audacity of hope]). No doubt a bit of housekeeping on your part will be
required now and then in this regard. Hopefully Jon will be here use his
even temperament to lend aid and comfort to the stunned progressive
recumbent newbies in this likelihood.
