Hwy 24 was my least favorite part, until I got to Leadville. chuckaeronut wrote: AWESOME ride, Mike! That kind of climbing would eat me alive. Superly hard core! The elevation might, but I doubt the climbing would. Appreciate the kind words. I just completed another record type ride with over 10,000' feet of climbing, back to back epic BIG climbs. I guess that is what I like to do. Cheers. -- aspenmike ------------------------------------------------------------------------ aspenmike's Profile: http://www.unicyclist.com/profile/3768 View this thread: http://www.unicyclist.com/thread/45013 Posted Via Usenet.com Premium Usenet Newsgroup Services ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.usenet.com |

Who has completed a 100 mile ride?
wow this thread has got me wanting to find an excuse to ride a century- if only to be in there with all those other amazing riders on the list. The longest ride i have done so far has been a 70 mile one- although this was with a pack (about 25kgs), and was 25 days (1600km) into a self supported tour. The 10 hr benchmark is something to work towards as well. I might pull out the maps later and see what might be a good route near Canberra. mark -- napalm you wont do it...your SCARED! Didn't you get really saddle sore? I don't think the 100mi will be a prob. for you. I myself, might give it a go in a few weeks. -- Denali ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Denali's Profile: http://www.unicyclist.com/profile/9085 View this thread: http://www.unicyclist.com/thread/45013 Posted Via Usenet.com Premium Usenet Newsgroup Services ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.usenet.com |

Who has completed a 100 mile ride?
Mike, that mountain picture is beautiful. I've come close to a metric century, it was around 90km, however I've never set out to do a century. Some day, when I find someone to ride it with, I'll give a imperial one a go. -- Eroick --Eric Evenchick Email/MSN: 'Municycle.ca: Canada's Unicycle.com' (http://www.municycle.ca) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Eroick's Profile: http://www.unicyclist.com/profile/10884 View this thread: http://www.unicyclist.com/thread/45013 Posted Via Usenet.com Premium Usenet Newsgroup Services ---------------------------------------------------------- http://www.usenet.com |

Who has completed a 100 mile ride?
Denali- yeah a few days i got a bit saddle sore but i had some good nicks and some chamois butter to help me get through it. I think that if i was to do it again i would change my saddle. I was using a poor mans freeride saddle that i had made out of a KH fusion. The problem with this set up was that the added weight on my back negated the channel i had cut in the foam. The surrounding foam was just too soft and didn't give the relief i would normally get when riding without a pack. I've seem some people on the forums experimenting with a denser foam on the top of their saddles. I would probably give this a go if i was to do it again. mark -- napalm you wont do it...your SCARED! Who has completed a 100 mile ride?
I rode 100 miles yesterday on my ungeared Nimbus 36 in the Seagull Century in Maryland. There were 6,400 bikes registered for the event. I was the only unicyclist. The roads were great and it was a lot of fun. I finished in 11 hours with a total riding time of 7:36 hours. For the first 17 miles my average speed was 15.0 mph. Age 49 and 11 months. Oldest? Steveyo - I met a bike rider who says he used to play a lot of ultimate with you. Sorry I forget his name.
