27.5 is the new 29
For those that haven't been to an LBS for a while, the new standard in
mountain bike wheel size is 27.5 aka 650b. Please destroy all your 26 and 29 size wheel mountain bikes and buy new 27.5 bikes. A rim any narrower doesn't permit the lowest inflation, which is a part of the definition; narrower rims than 40% of tyre width were included in the ERTRO recommendations because the marketing companies screamed that they were being put out of business, not because of any technical revelation on the road to the bank. Anything else than 60mm or wider tyres on rims 24mm or wider across the beads and 622 or taller -- is just marketing departments trying to turn a dishonest buck by stealing the clothes of the real thing.
