Default Candy from the LBS

After three years of faithful rain or shine performance I deemed it time
to move on from my very basic SPD Shimano shoes. They were the bottom
of the range two strap model, comfy enough to walk in but their
performance was lacking and getting worse with wear.

Enter: Egg Beater Candy pedals and a pair of Cannondale Roam 5FR01
shoes.

They're laceups which appear to the casual eye to be a reasonably smart
pair of runners. Walking in them's great and pedalling! Fantastico!

Candys are really nice, so easy to snick in and out of. Really positive
action and the platform is nice to have for powering down on. And the
really cool thing is that I can use my Shimano 225 shoes with them as
well :-)

Legs felt a bit weird on first run, had to a) raise the saddle (thicker
soles) and b) move the cleats all the way back. I've found that's the
safest position for me. Did all that last night, absolutely perfect
this morning.

Grinning from ear to ear on the way in today :-)

Waaaah! I thought you had found an LBS dispensing free confectionary
for commuters in need of fuel.

I would have made a 35km detour for that!

Conclusion to my thesis -- "It is trivial to show that it is
clearly obvious that this is not woofly."

I thought that Le Kincks had free snakes for riders coming in. (Black

I did indeed see a large bag of snakes near the front door at Le
Knicks. I was well behaved and didn't take one as I was in 4 wheel
mode.

Welcome to the club. i need new cleats on mine at the mo but they ****e
all over LOOKs, SPDs, TIMEs IMHO

My shoes are on their last legs(???) so Im'm lookin round for some
replacements.
May even see what i can find in Holland/europe (Yaaay. only 12 more
sleeps )

Occured to me whilst looking at road and mtb or commuter style shoes
whyTF Co's dont make Road shoes that you can just attach optional
walking/mtb-style bits onto?!?!?!?!?
I want the stiffness of road shoes to race-climb in and the option to
commute or walk in

EggBeatery pedals are certainly nice. Check out the Ghost who sells Stikkas prices on the Quattro at the moment

Mmmm. Maybe that's my next step.

Eggbeater cleats have no trouble fitting on the Shimano R074S Shoe
(second one down on http://www.cecilwalker.com.au/category270_1.htm )?

How long do those cleats last when walked on? Gotta be better than
look cleats!

if the 'standard' cleat, in my case about 14mths of daily commuting and
a bit of racing/BR'ing etc thrown in too

If using the road-style cleats they come with bits on the sides to walk
on and protect cleat so theoretically longer (and 'roadies' only walk
form bike to bakery counter and back )

I'm pretty sure there is a three holed cleat available.

No idea. The cleats are made of brass so are pretty soft (and also expensive) Mine are doing OK - mostly SS mtbiking (shudup Dave)
so a lot of walking gets done.
