Is this not just the type of incident that fridge freezer insurance was
designed for?

The article gives no information about the cause of the incident.

Somebody claiming to be a witness posted a comment that the cyclist was on the ground on the cycle path, reason unknown, a motorist stopped to give assistance leaving their car blocking the road and the crash happened to cars trying to negotiate the obstruction.

I have seen plenty of examples of dangerous cycling over the years, considering the comparative milage probably more than of dangerous driving in urban areas but this one probably wasn't down the the cyclist.

What has that got to do with anything in the crazy world of anti-cycling
trolls?

""A cyclist came off their bike and three cars then collided with each
other"

I don't see how all of that can be the cyclist's fault. Each driver is
responsible for ensuring proper braking distance.

It's the motorists' 'variable geometry' morality. If a cyclist runs
into the back of a premier league prima donna footballer's car, it's the
cyclist's fault. If a car driver crashes because a cyclist comes off
his bicycle, it's the cyclist's fault.

Indeed, if it rains, it's the cyclists' fault. If it doesn't rain, it's
the cyclists' fault. If inflation rises, it's the cyclists' fault. If
a motorist stubs his toe on the fridge door, it's the cyclists' fault.

And so on.

was the cars crashing a consequence of what the cyclist was doing?

No, it was caused by a butterfly flapping its wings in Mozambique.
