Smack down on Stazio
After such a heated discussion, the UCI has gotten involved for the
better (???). http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?...r06/mar17news2 I particularly like this part: IOne of the most recent posts urges 'believers' to send a letter to USA Cycling's (USAC) most senior staff member, including CEO Gerard Bisceglia, advocating the THF/DBC-run event and all unsanctioned charity events throughout the country. It reads: "One the major activities of USA Cycling ensure the ongoing development and safe participation in the sport of cycling. They have not accomplished that goal through this recent action and they need to hear from their constituents." The post ends with a familiar tag-line: "This is about believing. It is about believing in our communities, and our rights as individuals. It is about believing in the power of the bike. Join us in our efforts to make a difference."/I When has USAC ever been interested in development of the sport at the grassroots level? Maybe in the most liberal of views, but when you could care less about bike riders and road usage, not to mention adding fees to kid's races its a little obvious. Argue if you like, but I just think it's funny that Stazio went this route. CH |

Smack down on Stazio
Yeah, we hit this at the end of the "Who Sanctioned This?" thread
yesterday, but it's been all over Teton's and CCs sites for a few days. Comment, esp. at Teton's focused a lot on the fact that it's not so hard to characterize the whole shebang as ruse to get TH racing. So I wrote in, and in reply: "This issue has since been resolved and should not affect our tradition of cooperating with charity events. Thanks for your note. Sincerely, Gerard Bisceglia CEO USA Cycling" He (or his assistant) was very prompt with a reply to me, which is nice. I wonder what the above MEANS tho? |

Smack down on Stazio
Ambiguity is an excellent way of avoiding accountability. I think
Gerard/USAC are just trying to lay low on this one. |

Smack down on Stazio
Well yah! Tyler's pic was on the home page of Cyclingnews. Can't
think of a better way to grab that attention. I guess they couldn't resist the PR. CH |
