Default OT cyclist run over by truck

Quite an interesting read, simply because of the detail of the investigation
that is made available to the general public

Interesting:

QUOTE:
"Schrunk said the state could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that [the
driver] was negligent or reckless before the crash.
ENDQUOTE

That might be the reason why there have been no charges, though there will no
doubt be those who think that the driver is only using his innocence as an
excuse.

QUOTE:"Two witnesses who were in a car behind the truck told investigators
the truck made the turn very slowly and it was already turning when [the
cyclist] rode by them on her bike."
ENDQUOTE

Yes... well... no *wonder* "the Multnomah County District Attorney" said the
state could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that [the driver] was
negligent or reckless before the crash.

Mind you, surely he was negligent and reckless for simply driving a truck in
a spot where a cyclist might want to overtake him as he turned?

Get out of that, "Multnomah County District Attorney"... you can't, can yer?

Why is this OT? It seems very relevant to bicycling and some of the
dangers involved.
