Mileburner, are you sure it's not you're attitude that winds people up?
Several posters have stated that they have no problem at all with
motorists, yet you appear to really hate motorists.
I always try to cycle and drive with courtesy to others, this approach
seems to reap its own rewards.I never encounter such hostility that you
convey.

Most drivers are OK. But on a bike you get passed by so many it is the
few that drive dangerously that we tend to remember and bang on about.

For what it is worth if it is no trouble I normally point out faulty
back lights or flat tyres. I can't remember anyone being rude. I've also
had it pointed out to me when I was driving. I just thought it was
normal behaviour.

Although it's an odd thing to have to say, I think it annoys
drivers no matter who tells them things like this, since it
impossible not to make it sound like a criticism.

No,the decent ones will be grateful.
I did this once when on a motorbike, I was politely asked in return
"What TF has it got to do with you?". Now I do not bother.
The answer to that is "Sorry, I just thought I'd let you know
before the police did".

No point in trying to "one-up" on the *******. Smile and wave!

Mileburner, are you sure it's not you're attitude that winds people
up?

Probably :-) But you should speak to my brother - he's the one who GAF.

Absolutely, as cyclists we need to protect yourself from the ****tiest twunt
of the driving knob-ends out there. If that is only one in one-hundred (or
even one in a thousand) it still has to be done. We need to protect
ourselves.

Hmmm... colourful, at least.

Reminds me of the witticism an Irish bass-player of my former acquaintance
used to (knowingly) come out with:

"You three is a right one, the both of yer".

I have done this a few times, and I think it was appreciated. I have
also had motorists tell me on a couple of occasions that my rear lit was
not working, which I also very much appreciated. (The latter was when I
had a rear lit with a bulb in, instead of two LED lits now).

Martin.

Ooop! That's what happens when you edit the context of a post before sending
it and do a sloppy job - sorry!

It still does not justify the crap you spout - sorry again ;-)

I often tell drivers when they are driving along on almost flat tyres,
never had a bad reaction yet.

Hard to judge the mentality of the driver,if I were the driver,I would
appreciate being informed.

Bod

Me too. There are many drivers unaware that they have faulty rear lights
and I can't imagine why anyone would not want to be told of the fact.

If it *did* annoy them, it would no doubt be because they had a view
of cyclists as car-hating dickheads,

crap snipped

You're depriving a village somewhere of an idiot. Go back to your village
you obsessed moron! You are in the same league as spindrift.

Some people simply get upset at having their failings pointed out to them.
