Parking on pavements.
In pictures following the Democracy Village eviction you can now see
the vans of a security firm parked inside the Square on paving slabs which are frequently cracked by vehicles. It must surely count as criminal damage? Protesters are frequently arrested for less. Even applying a sticker to a lamppost is sometimes construed as criminal damage. If course, bicycles can't crack paving slabs. http://london.indymedia.org.uk/articles/5293 -- . Parking on pavements.
Almost all offences of violence to persons or property require an element of
intent. The possible exception is [involuntary] manslaughter. So no it isn't criminal damage and it certainly isn't if the owner ([Mayor of] London) asked them to go there. It must surely count as criminal damage? No, you see, you're perfectly entitled to damage your own property if you want, and it's not criminal to do so. So it can't be criminal damage, can it? Protesters are frequently arrested for less. Even applying a sticker to a lamppost is sometimes construed as criminal damage. That's because they're damaging other people's property. |

If I drill a hole in the wall outside my front door for the purpose of affixing a house number sign, that's my bisiness. If you did it (and that would necessarily be without my consent), it's be criminal damage. See the difference? |
