Madison exchange technique
Any web sites out there that teach the very basics on madison racing?
Don't need advanced strategies on when to throw in your sprinter, nor minutia of the hand sling, just trying to avoid killing each other on the track... :-) Thanks. |

There's always someone who has no clue, and the race schedule leaves no time to teach. A very basic handout would be helpful to save some skin. Got any "top ten" rules for new madison racers? I'll guess at some: 1. Always pass over an exchange. 2. When on relief, be in the same order as the racers in the pace line. Got any others? |

Here's a printable handout of hints (in Adobe Acrobat - .PDF file) done by Bill Cass, a designer at Nike, who runs the developmental classes at the Alpenrose Velodrome in Portland, Oregon (He also designed the Ride the Roses poster and the new UPS uniforms). Mike and Candy Murray of the OBRA just recently gave me permission to post it. http://www.velodrome.com/madisonhints.pdf Mike G. Excellent! Thanks for the link. |
