What an incredible Ronde! The top 5 is the perfect reflection of the
strongest riders of the race. I hope P-R of next week is as honest as
the Ronde today.

Boonen was very impressive - smart, strong, and vicious. Sorry to spluge
all over you guys, but that was ****ing Museeuwic.

Moreovre, from the way that Boonen has been riding the last two years and
his easy win of Flanders there's no doubt that he IS the new Lion of
Flanders. He will be taking wins after I'm dead and gone.

2006?

new Eddy Merckx too.

No he is not. At his age Merckx had already won the Tour, the Giro, the
World championship, three times Milan-San Remo, Paris-Roubaix, the Tour de
Flandres, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, the Flèche Wallone, Gand-Wevelgem, and much
more. However, he might become the new Rik van Looy.

Though I'm not sure that he will ever take a grand tour because of the
specialists.

He won't.

Priceless! Thanks, Benjo.

cyclingnews reports about Boonen's monday press conference, but not much
about what he said.

Nothing spectacular, but no usual blabla about colleagues.

"... The audience wants no fake. Maybe that was the problem the last 2, 3
years: too much pretending going on."

This is not clear to me, the "fake" might as well refer to VDB's eternal
saga, or to Museeuw's career finish.

"Over tien jaar weten we waar het allemaal eindigt. Ik wil ook ooit
Milaan-Sanremo winnen.

- wants to shine wherever possible, unlike ("I'm not.....")

Ondertussen is bewezen

Lance was only shortly angry about the contract break. He thought I
overestimated myself.
[Staying there] I would have stagnated for two years. My learning curve
took off at Lefevere.

No, I think he's talking about himself. Champions usually do.
