kool stop brake pads "allowing perfect pad alignment to any rim angle"?

boiled? whaduyahdo? tilt the concave washer in the cupped holder to
approximate alignment with rim surface, screw the shaft down on the
brake arm, mounting the eagle 2 (1.5?) assembly with the concave washer
crushed cockeyed in the cup?

place pad in desired position on rim, hold caliper closed, tighten bolt.

i filed an extra washer from the nashbar sidepull kit to compensate not
believing the obviuos: ever belive the obvious but indirect instruction
and rip up the entire mechanism?

the sidepulls are incredible! place vice grips on wire, squeeze pads
together, pulls grips down with hand's heel, twist allen wrench with
right.

and the sidepull STOPS - wonder if i can get basso to autograph one?

i used a slab of AL 3/16 x 3-1/4 - sides brace against seat stays.

let's just say it works as described before. quality of execution is
your problem!

i filed an extra washer from the nashbar sidepull kit to compensate not
believing the obviuos: ever belive the obvious but indirect instruction
and rip up the entire mechanism?

the sidepulls are incredible! place vice grips on wire, squeeze pads
together, pulls grips down with hand's heel, twist allen wrench with
right.

i wouldn't vice grip the wire - it'll damage strand surfaces which will
in time fatigue and break. just hold the caliper closed by using the
brake like normal, then tighten with the other hand. or have an
assistant operate the brakes while you do the interesting stuff.

try it my way and i'm using walmart $2 small vicegrips not snap-ons
the just hold not crush the wire adjustment is effortless
for finesse file a wee notch on a lengthwise axis for holding the
cable.
shims under the pads - a heavy poly as found on a wal gallon thinner
jug

dude, /any/ marks or notching in a strand can cause fatigue. just like
in a spoke. it's good that the cable is multistrand, but even so, the
vicegrip and /especially/ the file thing is bad mojo.

why? it'll lead to very slight misalignment of the pad if you think
about the arcs they swing through and the alignment you want at the
actual contact point.
