Default Very early morning rides.

How NOT OT is this then, motorists? I do trust you are envious! BTW,
no a single word or URL has been pasted here.

How early depends on the length of the ride, the longer the earlier.
You must finish before the commute and school run, followed by mums'
shopping trips, have begun. In fact as a cyclist you might as well
avoid the rest of the day altogether until the next day's early hours.

What are the advantages?

The roads are mostly clear of vehicles which pose a significant threat
to cyclists and there is virtually no congestion, obviously. The air
seems to be cleaner and fresher, with much less traffic pollution. Its
great not being hooted at! You will see strange people alone at bus
stops or wandering with a can in their hand, urban foxes stopping to
stare at you and even encounter cyclists like yourself enjoying their
rides. The morning chorus is pretty good too.

There is a lot to be said for it and the exercise is great.

Doug.

Apart from the obligatory reference of threats to cyclists, that is by
far the most sensible post that you have made.
Mind you round here the foxes would make it obvious that they own the road.
Have a good time.

Not particularly envious today, I'm afraid. Though it doesn't say HOW
early, having to leave home well before 6 this morning for a 3.5 hour
drive up north, I can't really vouch for very early starts!

I forget to mention that it is usually much less windy in the early
hours too.

Didn't you know? Balloonists often take off in the early morning to
avoid winds which make it difficult.
