For once?

Ballan ... not a lucky sprinter dude
Bettini ... wasn't a bunch sprint either time
Boonen ... not really a sprinter dude who gets lucky
hmm ... Freire, must have a lot of lucky to do it 3x
Cipo? *That wasn't luck ... it was a race totally controlled by the

You're right, I meant a GT GC contender, the cyclists I generally care

Tours are for pussies and their media fanboys (most of Armstrong's

Hey Noob -

Who are you to be telling us what this group is?

thanks,

Kurgan. presented by Gringioni.

"Noob"?! I've been posting here since here the early 90s though not
much in recent times as it's become something of an Armstrong fanboys
mutual wanking thing. Now he's gone it will hopefully settle down
again.

You're right, I meant a GT GC contender, the cyclists I generally care
for. The last one was Olano in 1995, before he was a GC contender
actually. Maybe Jalabert would have won that year if he hadn't slacked
out. They did take place pretty late if memory serves, October 8th
from the top of my head.

Cancellara showed he's got
the legs but not necessarily the brains...

that might be accurate.

And herer's the proof :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pICMVTT7rIcI
put a little note ;-)

Okay, great, a GT GC contender won. * But, once on the podium did he
have to look quite so 'poof-ish':http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/76t...ampionships-cm...

Oh, and that was hands-down the worst 'victory salute' in the history
of pro cycling.

come on! the guy was knackered and could barely raise up from the
drops there at the end!

Knackered??? What sort of lame excuse is that? *Hell, RAAM winners
give better victory salutes than Evans did.

So, let me make sure I've got this right... you can't be a true
champion unless you give an approved victory salute?

Makes sense to me...

UD

Didn't say he didn't deserve the win, merely stated his victory salute
was lame. *You're so smart, how come you didn't get that the first
time???

Whooooosshhhh.....

Oh, and that was hands-down the worst 'victory salute' in the history
of pro cycling.

The Italians and Spanish rode in an appallingly cowardly way - a
disgrace to the sport. Ballerini says that he has no regrets - what an
idiot!

Cancellara by far the best in the race: Italians and Spanish - let's
make sure that Cancellara does not win and not even attempt to win
ourselves. Where is the spectacle and entertainment for the fans?

It is difficult to have any respect for anyone other than Cancellara
in the break - I do not like the negativity and lack of character of
Evans but he did chose his moment!

You're kidding right? *Except for his puncture, Cancellara didn't even
show up until the last couple of laps and then managed to
disappoint. *He stopped being a realistic contender when he won the
TT. * The Aussies rode a great race, being the team who did most of
the early work in pulling the break back including, as I recall, Evans
pulling the bunch along up he hill at one point. *That was actually
quite decisive beause it looked for a long while as though that big
group would stay away. * The Italians rode a near perfect race but
were caught out at the end, other than that they were a major
contributor to every significant move and it looked very much like it
could well be a similar result to the womens' race right till the last
few kilometres. *As for the Spanish well, they always ride like a
group of individuals anyway. *Is there a Spanish word for "team" ;-)

Best ride of the day for me was Hoogerland by some way - in every
decisive move and attacking whenever the chance presented itself. *I
think he might well have been on the podium at least had he had some
support.

UD

yep, hoogerland has been exciting to watch the last few weeks. wonder
where he'll be in 2010? vacansoleil again, or maybe the rabos will
snap him up. i think he should ride for The Shack

The Spaniards didn't chase down the hombre wearing their colors;
Cancellara and Gilbert didn't chase down their real teammates.

Ah well, in those days I would have used my actual name. I was given
the handle on a cycling email list in 1992 or 93 and it kind of stuck
but - as you will doubtless know if you've been around since that sort
of time - use of actual names was the norm.

Not sure that one response to a direct question constitutes arguing.
If we'd carried on ad nauseum, perhaps.

Besides, there is no arguing w/ TK about gayness.
