Default AFLD suspects new EPO : Hematide

Text from hematide article

Unlike the 2008 Tour, the 2009 ended without the revelation of any
positive case.
Should we conclude that for all
96 th Great Loop was popular with water?

It is not
believed that Pierre Bordry, president of the French Agency for the
fight against doping (AFLD): "There probably had blood transfusions,"
he told the World.
The president of
the AFLD has also "convinced that two new products have been used
during the Tour, two drugs that are not yet on the market."

Reportedly, one of these two substances would be hematide, a third-
generation EPO, which helps maintain the level of hemoglobin. Encore
Still in clinical
phase, the drug, whose marketing is planned for 2011, is already on
the banned list of World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

The second
is the drug AICAR, a product that acts on muscle and burns fat. "I was
struck by the thinness of some riders," said Pierre Bordry.
septembre-octobre. The tests for these two products could be ready by
September-October. Autant dire, qu'à l'instar de l'EPO CERA l'an
In other words, that, like EPO CERA last year,
positive cases may be reported several weeks after the Tour.

performances bien inférieures à celles de l'an dernier. Especially
since the AFLD is also preparing to test new samples during the Tour
in 2008 over a dozen riders from the Tour play and some have
experienced performance well below those of last year. Enfin, l'AFLD a
indique Pierre Bordry. Finally, the AFLD has made discoveries in the
dustbin of some teams. "We found heavy drugs, as a substance to
produce insulin which is normally used by diabetics," said Pierre
Bordry.

This looks like another mess in the making, references to Sastre,
Evans and Wiggins.

Apparently they're only retesting 2008 because the UCI "owns" the 2009
samples and haven't authorized retesting...in their usual "head in the
sand" approach.

I bet AFLD will be solely in charge again next year on the TDF.

I always suspected the UCI of being weak and negligient but this time
they appear outwardly corrupt.

You can't have the police police themselves. Any fool knows that.
The UCI gets a % of the sponsorship $$ pot and thus it is in their
best interests to uphold the image of cycling even at the risk of the
athlete.

Yes, the UCI cannot be trusted, look at the Rasmussen fiasco, the
Armstrong $100k "donation" they took and all the other shenanigans
pulled by Veerbrughe and his minion McQuaid over the years.

If they prevent retesting of the 2009 samples, this might be the last
thing they do before losing any credit they may still have.
