A crackdown on youngsters cycling on pavements and through pedestrian
areas in Boston has been stepped up by police, following an increasing
number of complaints from residents.

I think you'll find that most responsible cyclists here would condemn the
use of pavements by cyclists (unless the cyclist is a four year-old). I
know the two Simons would.

“PC Heath and his colleagues are to be commended for wishing to
improve the safety of cyclists, and many of the measures they are
promoting are positive, but there is one exception: cycle helmets.

Nowhere with a helmet law or massive rise in helmet wearing because of
propaganda campaigns can show any reduction in risk to cyclists, and
some research shows an increase in risk with helmet wearing.

One might have assumed that if anyone would check the evidence, it
would be the police, but sadly, many police forces accept the
misinformation and distortions supplied by single issue pressure
groups without checking it.

There have been cases of children strangled by the straps of their
helmet, but it cannot be shown that a helmet has saved a single life.
The police are therefore promoting something which has killed children
but saved none, not exactly a responsible position.

For a few facts rather than the pressure group propaganda, check out
cyclehelmets.org

Do you really consider that cyclehelmets.org is not a pressure propaganda
group website? Jus Zis **** is behind it. He's a raving psycholist!

“So when are the police going to "step up" their efforts to stop
drivers parking their cars on footpaths and cycle lanes....?”

ffs - was he ****ed.

So cyclehelemts.org is nothing to do with pressure group propaganda.

That will be why, when they were first set up, their message was considered to
be:

"Helmets are not beneficial to cyclists (unless the evidence forces us to a
dramatically different conclusion.)"

No bias there then.

At least one would agree with me. The other can't comment because I'm in
his killfile.

The police have started handing out these tickets at last as I saw two
cars with tickets on this morning.
About time too.

Who are you talking to?

Oh - yourself, yet again.

So we now have a sub thread - with just you - and three posts.

Can we go back to the holiday snaps?
