If you are even a national class miler in college, you should be able to run a sub 4-minute mile by your freshman year. http://www.cs.uml.edu/~phoffman/nats/milers1.htm * So this chick is going to have a short career if she doesn't make the 2012 Olympics (which she won't). *There' ain't no way to be world class at the pole vault unless you make the Olympci or worlds team. *Otherwise, there's no sustainable income in this specialty. They're generally tall, very lean, and have muscular upper bodies, torsos, and legs. The event has high demands for strength, low weight, speed, flexibility, and coordination. Far too few high schoolers try it here in the US, both men and women. That first photo of Isinbayeva is beautiful, what a great athlete. Brad Anders |

Thanks, Magilla Dumbass, jumping high is 2nd to how good she looks. She ain't that hot and pole vaulting isn't a sport that will garner her any media or sponsorships unless she makes the Olympic/worlkds team, which will not happen for her. *Her looks are irrelevant. Dumbass - With young women, looks are never irrelevant. Example: Anna Kournikova. In her 'prime' she had the most sponsorship income of any female tennis player despite never being ranked in the top 10. For a time she was #1 on the most google'd list. The next most google'd female tennis player was probably #10,000. Anna K was ranked 7th in the world at one point and a legitimate pro by all accounts (she won two Grand Slams). She was also in a sport that had national TV contracts for over 100 hours/week with the Grand Slam tournaments. It was reasonable to expect to see Anna play for dozens of hours/year on nationally televised networks. Tennis matches last anywhere from 90 minutes to 3 hours and only ficus on 2 competitors per program. Pole vaulting - has none of that and to compare her TV face time to Anna K means you are just glossing over the relevant details and trying to fit square pegs into round holes. Don't do that again. Thanks, Magilla |

Yes, she won the doubles competition at the Australian Open in 1999 and 2002, paired with Hingis both times. Made me laugh, from the same page: "This article is about the tennis player. For the computer virus, see Anna Kournikova (computer virus)." |
