Police release more details about cyclist killed in A30 crash

More information about a cyclist who died following a crash with a lorry in Cornwall has been released.

Devon and Cornwall Police has confirmed that the cyclist who was pronounced dead at the scene was a 71-year-old male. The crash happened on Station Approach close to the A30 St Erth Roundabout near Hayle at around 11.25am yesterday (July 2).

"At around 11.25am on Thursday July 2, police received a report of a collision involving a pedal cyclist and a heavy goods vehicle in Station Approach, St Erth, near Hayle in Cornwall," a police statement said.

"The cyclist, a 71-year-old male, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene." Road closures were put in place in the surrounding area for several hours after the crash while initial investigations were carried out.

Police are still looking into the incident and have appealed for witnesses, especially those with dashcam footage, to contact them.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team attended and are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision, or have dashcam footage, to call 101, or email , quoting log 338 of 02/07/20."
