OK, she's a mouthy bitch, but prison? WTF?

If the judge wanted to make an example of her why not give her a driving
ban?

Compare and contrast..

Because she was under a suspended sentence at the time of the offence and that is how suspended sentences work.

I agree, an indefinite driving ban until a court rules she is mentally fit to drive which she clearly isn't at the moment.

Didn't the story say she committed whatever offences of which she has
now been convicted* whilst serving a suspended sentence (presumably for
something else)?

Being convicted of another offence usually calls the suspended sentence
into effect.

[* Mind you, it isn't at all clear what "road rage offences" might be
when they're at home. Presumably, it must include the assault mentioned
in the story, though why there is any need to describe it in that silly
way is also far from clear.]

The suspended sentence was for theft. The ABH etc was probably related
to trying to escape, otherwise I suspect she would already be in jail.

This crime was all about her driving.

A ban is sensible, cheap for us, not so damaging for her kid and a good
lesson for her. Jail should only be used in extreme cases.

This was a type of behaviour that happens very often. Within the last
three months I have had one driver threatening and swearing at me for
signalling left when they wanted to undertake and another beep me for
riding in the middle of the road. We can't send them all to jail but we
could give out a lot of bans.

When will cyclists be banned from the roads? Even when they kill, they
do not get a ban.

She was convicted of driving without reasonable consideration for other
road users. That is endorsable, but rarely results in a disqualification
because it isn't seen as necessarily causing danger (that would be DD or
DWDCAA).

But there was also "using threatening, abusive or insulting words or
behaviour".

I am not aware that this second offence is punishable by a driving ban.
But it sounds robust enough to at least trigger her suspended sentence.

But...

A court heard she formed a weapon with her fingers and cocked it at Mr
Vine´s head as he pulled alongside her at a set of traffic lights, which
he interpreted as a 'serious threat'.
ENDQUOTE

That is pathetic.

Vine is either a total drama queen or has an unhealthy belief in the
existence and power of magic.

Like someone who threatens serious assault while driving an illegal
vehicle, perhaps?

It was the voodoo doll with the pins that really frightened him.

If JV had ridden away rather than obstruct her and want to get into an
argument, then nothing would have happened. He is just lucky that his
actions did not lead to serious or fatal injury.
