Britain's first ever crowdfunded prosecution: Motorist appears in court accused of killing a 70-year-old teacher cyclist after family members raised £64,000 to bring the case
QUOTE:
"A motorist appeared in court today accused of causing the death of a cyclist in what is believed to be the first ever crowdfunded prosecution. Michael Mason, 70, died after the crash in Regent Street, central London in February 2014, but the Met Police decided not to refer motorist Gail Purcell's case to prosecutors. But Purcell, 58, today appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court accused of causing death by careless driving in a private prosecution after nearly £64,000 was raised from more than 1,600 supporters on JustGiving.co" Read mo http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...#ixzz4K9iJJycL Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook |

Apparently Willard Watts was getting plenty of money from Koch or Exxon for awhile to go to AGS meetings past years. Suddenly his funding disappeared and he had to crowd source money for a hotel room. Or sleep in his car. |

Exxon has pulled the plug on a lot of deniers. https://www.theguardian.com/environm...denier-funding That is easy to believe. Even responsible large organizations don't speak with one voice. R & D says one thing, PR another and legal another. Office politics becomes complicated w/ the number of employees, N! What happens to a corporation 30 years into the future might not be on the front burner of a CEO who knows he'll be dead or retired by then. All he has to do is rationalize to himself that he has more immediate concerns, something else will come up, etc. The easiest thing to do is say nothing. Bret Cahill |
