Default Talking of Moe

Just read on the La Trobe City Cycling Club web page that the Japanese
Women's Road team are staying in Moe during February to train for the
UCI World Cup at the end of the month.

I know Moe has a sister city in Japan, but it's still an interesting
choice for an international team to use as a training base (apart from
the immediate hills in the south, proximity to Baw Baw region). I
wonder what impressions of rural Australia they will take away with
them?

VRMMM VVVVVVROOOOOOOOOOM in my bundy ute maaaaaaaaate!! hehehe

Was thinking more of the extensive shopping, night life, and general
"met the natives" socialising to be had. I hope they like pizza and bbq
chicken if they wanna eat out

A reasonably good place to keep a bunch of women out of "trouble" so
long as they don't head down to the local pub!

Aaah Moe!

One time we were there looking for a vegetarian lunch.

"Do you have anything vegetarian?"

"Yes, we have a chicken pie or fish and chips."

And in the basketball tournament, after a discretion from the opposing
team that we thought worthy of a whistle, we were told by the local
umpi "You're in the country now ... you won't get any of your city
calls here"!!

I've just returned from riding from Trafalgar (just before Moe), over
the Strezlecki's and on down to Wilson's Promontory, and back.

If I had to pick a place to train: lots of hills, not many cars, really
excellent scenery then this would be it.

I see that Leongatha is having a "cycling festival". Great stuff.

Where I live (Frankston) you'd be luck to get up a "let's kill one less
cyclist or pedestrian day". In Frankston you watch very carefully for
people in metal cages who actively try to kill you every day. These are
evil people.

Sure, Moe is the country but I figure there is a radius of "distance
from Melbourne" beyond which "civilised behaviour towards cyclists"
starts. As Melbourne grows, the perimeter shifts further out. I put it
at about Warragul at the moment. So Moe is ideal.

Both exceedingly useful and warm.

Probably be more impressed with Moe, than city culture. At least that
was my experience with Japanese bicycle tourists.
