The square tapers bottom brackets, specifically Chorus and

Yes.

And both have
rebuildable bearings?

No. They use cartidge bearing which are not supposed te be

replaced. I
did it once, I don't do it again. I replace the whole unit next time.

And finally do the Record and Chorus BB have
the same bearings or is there a difference?

No they are the same.

Lou

Thanks. What were the issues about replacing the bearings? Had to be
pressed off and on?

Easy to get off, even the clip on the LH side. It's really hard to get
the retaining ring off the RH side w/o deforming it so when you put it
back it may interfere with the bearings causing a draggy bearing. I'm
batting about 50% when it comes to successfully changing these.

Do the replacements ever get to be replaced or does the spindle break
first?

Never broke a spindle. Shimano nor Campagnolo. Only use Ultegra/XT and
up or Chorus and up.

So what is the count for repeated bearing replacement on a single
axle?
