A cyclist who who had to learn how to walk again after a horrific
collision has said she felt ‘let down’ after the driver who hit her was
fined just £145.
Laura Cameron had just recorded a victory that put her on the verge of
becoming a professional cyclist, when a vehicle turned head-on in to her
path leaving her with an open double fracture.

But she was left dismayed after the driver, who left her facing an
excruciating six months of rehabilitation, was fined just £145 and given
four points on his licence for careless driving.
A charge of leaving the scene of an accident was dropped after a police
notebook containing evidence was lost, Bexley Magistrates’ Court was told.
