WIndburn and dry skin?

I am a new cyclist and noticed that my face is starting to dry out now
that the weather is cooling down. Is this a common problem and what is
the suggested solution?

Moisturizer. You can get non-girly types.

It depends on your skin type. I have fair skin, like a Swede, and
blonde hair. I have had to use moisturizer on my face since college,
at first only in winter, then over the years it became year round.
After shaving, which also really dries your skin out.

I think other types of skin (darker) have less of a dryness problem,
but at middle age and older, the skin just feels better with a little
moisture applied - J.

I like Nivea, as that's what my mother put on my red nose when was a
kiddo with windburn. You can get a little tin for a couple bucks to
try. It's pretty greasy--but that's sort of the point.

I use plain ol' Vaseline (petroleum jelly). It's as cheap as dirt, and a little
goes a long way.

My mother used to rub red, Vaseline-like stuff on my face before I went
sledding. It was much thicker than Vaseline and didn't rub off (or apply) as
readily (the latter being a Good Thing, I believe now). I don't remember the
brand name but probably she got it at a cosmetics counter, because it smelled
kinda "sweet".
