Plan ahead
Started my vacation after work at 130 pm yesterday.
Well heavy rain at times all weekend long (stating after dark). At 3 pm I'm hitting the trail and loving it with only a few riders taking avantage of the bad weather to come. About 3 racked cars in dirt parking lot of Bluff Point State Park. I see a freerider off in the distance pumping up the tech trails. Wow whats up here with all this earth moving machinery. So I take a turn down what use to be singletrack changed to double double wide. I end up at a construction fench and what use to be a cove with a parkbench looking out over the cove which now is dry land. I move on up to the hilly turff and run in to that freerider with the yelow jersey coming up while I going down we talk awhile. I don't know him but he knows just about everyone I know even about the construction and why. This morning I read more details about the constuction in the newspaper. Well after the rain full weekend I'm headed out for Millers Pond and more riding fun with a few more stops at Bluff Point. |

It really sucks when a park is managed by someone who think a bulldozer is trail maintenance equipment. Next thing you'll know, they'll cover it thick with gravel. This was the fate of one trail I used to ride. Happens here all the time. The company that IMBA started uses one of those fire breaker tractors to create trails. They like to call it single track, I call it a road. -- o-o-o-o Ride-A-Lot o-o-o-o www.schnauzers.ws |

This is one big park two big parks really. Hailie's
Farm State Park and Bluff Point State Park. Rode both that evening. The parks are slit up by Amtrack tain tracks with a bridge to go to and from. or a cattle tunnel. Till about 5 years ago the tunnel was the only passage. After the long ride I rode over to the local water hole and put down a few Irish Stouts and seafood with the wife, sister inlaw, and a friend. Now get this the earthmovers are to move the river out there and to replace old sewer pipes that run under both parks from Fort Hill to the river. By moving the river it dries up the wetlands so water fowl can't hang out. This the same area the state puts on a deer hunt for DEP officers only. Every winter they manage the deer by killing them off and they need to kill off this rape and murder by the name of Ross they been carrying for 20 something years. Kill him would be DEP right. |

Except they then plopped a 12 court tennis center right in the heart of the singletrack. How's that for an indignity?? Dave -- -BB- To e-mail me, unmunge my address |
