DfT 2007 Figures released 1
Seriously Injured 2007 cf 2006 All road users : down 13% Pedestrians: down: 2% Pedal Cyclists: up 6% Now what was that about cycling being comparable to being a pedestrian? It looks like cycling is becoming even more dangerous. -- If you're going to make snide insinuations about the author, as you undoubtedly did, then you can **** right off. (Guy Chapman) If you are going to make accusations about someone, then you need to be able to substantiate when asked to. (Judith Smith) |

New cyclist. Shopping bag on handelbars. Out of the saddle to 'honk'. Obvious outcome - bag swings into front wheel. |

And getting it caught in the front wheel didn't stop me doing again. I guess though that having a really painful fall would stop me. LN |

And getting it caught in the front wheel didn't stop me doing again. I guess though that having a really painful fall would stop me. I've escorted an almost certainly concussed cyclist home who said he'd banged his head doing the same thing. (I'm not a medic, but he complained of feeling "really odd" and disoriented. He said there was someone at home who would keep an eye on him and he seemed to be feeling better by the time I left him, and he turned down my offer to call an ambulance or doctor.) (He wasn't wearing a helmet, but not catching the bag in the front wheel in the first place would have been a better solution.) |
