Motorists don't want to be late, so they show no respect for thelate, ignorant of the fact that all too soon they too must be late
If many motorists don't respect the dead, how likely are they to
respect still-living cyclists? http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Art...8163/?UserKey= "The report by Co-operative Funeralcare said its drivers had encountered a growing number of incidents in which other motorists cut in front of them, refused to let them pull out or sounded their horns at them. Motorcades had also encountered verbal insults and abusive hand signals from other road users, the company said." "Some drivers regard being overtaken as a personal insult. Normally civilised human beings turn into snarling savages when they are behind the wheel of a car. They become finger-jabbing, rage-filled, dangerous fools. If the driver of the car in front is having the effrontery to obey the speed limit, he or she will be subjected to manic tooting and flashing lights. The way we live now is driving many people crazy – so much so that they can’t even allow a funeral cortege to be in front of them." "When dignified respect in the face of death is replaced by snarling and honking belligerence towards a funeral cortege, we are going backwards in the civilisation stakes. Standing silently as a funeral procession passes is an acknowledgement of human solidarity." |

Its reassuring to see that 'finger-jabbing, rage-filled, dangerous' motorists don't only single out Critical Mass for their unwelcome attentions and that their ridiculous behaviour is more general. I wonder if there has even been an incident where such a motorist has rammed a funeral cortage? -- . Its because their rather silly form of transport is so terribly slow that they jump lights, take short cuts on pavements & one way streets etc. No respect for the pedestrian at all. They often swear at & abuse any in their way. -- Dave - The Medway Handyman www.medwayhandyman.co.uk |
