Easy: ban bicycles in all public places.

Sorted.

But that would remove your sole reason for living (whingeing about
cyclists). This could possibly set off severe depression.
You could of course resort to shouting at traffic or making *get off my
lawn* signs for other whingers.

It would also mean the 730 000 daily bicycle journeys in London would be made by car. Just imagine the gridlock.

Indeed and the extra air pollution.

Perhaps we should reverse Nugents' idea and ban non essential motor vehicles.
It has been long established on this group that motor taxes don't even cover the costs of motorway maintenance let alone the costs of the other roads motorists infest.

I have nothing against cars but I do object to assumption that 'the roads are for cars'.
Roads are for people, not machines.

I am sorry to hear that not being able to read my posts would lead to
your being depressed. You'd just have to try and get over it.

I am only keen to maintain and improve road safety whilst maintaining
mobility and convenience for the maximum proportion of the population
and complying with the wishes and needs of another (theoretically
seperate) maximum number.

Really, though, one strongly suspects that the Venn diagram for those
two maximum numbers will be very nearly a perfect circle.

Would none of them go by bus?

Would none of them go by train / Underground?

Would none of them go by taxi (which are already circulating on the
streets)?

Would none of them walk?

Would none of them decide not to bother making the "journey"?

If your answer to any of those is "yes", please explain your "working
out" (if any).

Footage has emerged of the collision. It appears that the adult cyclist was also knocked off in the collision, which happened on a dual use path and stopped to check if everything was OK before continuing on his journey.

....where "continuing on his journey" is a euphemism for "disappearing
sharply so that he could not be held to account for the injuries he had
caused the child".

or make all bicycles have registration numbers and riders to have
insurance , then riders will be more careful, and will not ride away
after a crash, as the coward in this case did.

Even if they bothered, it would be the car that does the damage, not the
motorist.

Read the story.

You write as if it were a driver in a car hurtling along that footway,
bowling over that child on a bike, causing him those injuries, stopping
momentarily then beetling off as fast as possible.

But it was a cyclist on a bicycle. And he probably only stopped for a
second to check ehether his front wheel was buckled in case he needed to
demand the cost of repairs from the child's parents.

And apparently, it's almost impossible to cause injury with a bike (or
so we have often been told).

You need to get some perspective. 1000 people on a day are hurt by drivers.

It is cyclists who use footways as though they were a legitimate
travelling route. We all see it done every time we go anywhere.
