What can be done to prevent these as plastic hats don't help?

But that would remove your sole reason for living (whingeing about

cyclists). This could possibly set off severe depression.
You could of course resort to shouting at traffic or making *get off my
lawn* signs for other whingers.

It would also mean the 730 000 daily bicycle journeys in London would be made by car. Just imagine the gridlock.

Footage has emerged of the collision. It appears that the adult cyclist was also knocked off in the collision, which happened on a dual use path and stopped to check if everything was OK before continuing on his journey.

Neither link works but I am guessing it proves adult cyclists should exercise their RIGHT to use roads they pay for.
