When I read something that someone has written that doesn't jibe with my experience or knowledge of the subject at hand, I will try to DISCUSS it with that person. You know, an exchange of ideas, etc. You seem to start off with the name calling, "you have nothing to say", "no brains", "idiot", "aberrant thinking", blah blah blah. Honestly, Tom, you seem to have a great resentment of anyone who dares challenge your (imagined) supremacy in any and all areas of interest. Do you mean like your posting "In the long run, I think the Bush admin. has done more to help North Korea become a viable nuclear power"? The fact is that North Korea NEVER for a second intended to keep any agreements with the Clinton Administration and didn't. You claim that "the Clinton people knew that going in, and figured it was better to deal with them ourselves and have some kind of access (at some level) to being able to have an idea what was going on in NK" is so far out in left field that NOT making fun of you for such a stupid statement would be stupid itself. Clinton's people couldn't detect that the NK's were working on weapons from the very first second and that they were given the technology to pursue it from Clinton. Statements such as your horrifically ignorant one about Bush somehow doing the wrong thing by calling North Korea on it demonstrates just the sort of bigot you are. |

Ignorance surely is no better presented than in this pearl from July: *Kunich here commenting on hills in Crawford TX: "My very first long airplane flight came into El Paso and there was a range of hills outside of town that had a downdraft so powerful that our 707 came damned close to dropping out of the sky." (El Paso, for the uninitiated is 650 west of Crawford. May I now describe Salina KS by referencing Breckenridge CO?) *Kunich continued: "It was actually a pretty funny deal. We lost 12,000 feet of altitude in about 3 or 4 seconds. There was a Nun walking down the aisle when we hit the air pocket and she was carrying a rosary. As she went airborn and hit the ceiling she screamed "JESUS CHRIST" and flung the rosary away from her, I suppose in order to use her hands to grab something. The beads scattered all over the cabin as the rosary came apart." *Holden Caufield then had to inform Tom: "12,000 feet in 3 or 4 seconds ? The plane would have disintegrated at that rate, let alone recovery from the dive would have been impossible. The airplane descended to about 5,000 feet in 63 seconds before the flightcrew regained control. That would be 34,00 0ft in 63 seconds (539 ft/sec) you state 12,000 in 4 seconds ( 3,000 ft sec)" |

So Bush "called them on it". He then proceeded to do nothing but posture like a tough guy on it. Your opinion. The attempt to have China do the grunt work on this is amazing. Why would they expect China to do anything that would be in our strategic interest in that region? In case you missed it, it isn't in China's interest to have a nuclear power on her southern border within a cheap missle attack from Beijing. As for me being "a bigot" when it comes to Bush, well, duh. No surprises there. |

... Word. But, on the face of it, what else would you call what Commander Codpiece did? Maybe he should have acted like your hero Kofi Anan and just taken bribes. In case you missed it, it isn't in China's interest to have a nuclear power on her southern border within a cheap missle attack from Beijing. North Korea under Kim Jong Il is a nearly uncontrollable nation. But who do you suppose exerts a greater influence on NK, the US, or China? Would it surprise you to find that China was willing to accept that risk in order to use NK as a surrogate to add to Beijing's influence in the region? Wow, would it be a surprise to you to find out that most of the industrial goods in North Korea come from China? If there's one thing we'd ALL be surprised at, it would be finding out that China could INCREASE her influence in North Korea. Like every other country is so high on their list. Do you just write to see the words on the page or are you trying the monkeys with typewriters and Shakespeare theory? I'm honest about that, Tom. But what you have failed to note is that I will criticize either party for stupidity, crookedness, whatever; that's far more than you can say. Kwack, you'll criticize anyone, I'd agree, but it has nothing to do with thier performances and everything to do with your ego. |

It might have done some good - certainly would have been more useful than letting them continue their R&D. Instead, he let them continue working on the stuff, and ended up trying to bribe *them*. In case you missed it, it isn't in China's interest to have a nuclear power on her southern border within a cheap missle attack from Beijing. Boy. did you ever miss the point there. I'm talking about China being willing to accept the risk of having a (as you put it) "nuclear power on her southern border within a cheap missle attack from Beijing" in order to increase China's strength and influence on the ****ENTIRE**** region - not just North Korea. You know, having a small, unstable country like NK, armed with missiles that could eradicate Seoul, Tokyo, etc, but with Beijing ostensibly keeping them "in check." I'm honest about that, Tom. But what you have failed to note is that I will criticize either party for stupidity, crookedness, whatever; that's far more than you can say. Kwack, you'll criticize anyone, I'd agree, but it has nothing to do with thier performances and everything to do with your ego. Geepers, Tom, you tried to make fun of my name. How droll. Having been on the recieving end of that more than a few times yourself, I suppose that would be expected. -- tanx, Howard "It looks like the squirrel's been showing everybody where he keeps his nuts." remove YOUR SHOES to reply, ok? |
