Was Lance palying head games?
"TritonRider" wrote in message ... From: "Sierraman" Date: 5/21/2004 6:00 PM Eastern If you're bored we could talk about womens cycling. I wonder why Go Finland didn't race in the Tour de L'Aude after CN reported that Luperini was favored to make a big effort there? I don't have to be bored to talk women's cycling. Any excuse is a good one. If you haven't noticed I'm the Lyne Bessette cheering section. Considering the the hassles she's had and the strength of the team 5th, currently, is pretty damn good. Dede is having a great race too. Someday someone will get a really good picture of her. A couple of years ago at a race she wasn't racing, she was in a black dress, sitting on a stone wall, just looking so exotic and Euro, reading a book. I don't think she was trying to create an "image", but it worked. Gotta wonder if Jeanson will ever reach this level, as long as she stays with Rona, I'd doubt it, and if she isn't with them I'm not sure how she does without the handlers. Who cares. Rebecca Twig is still looking great. If she rides masters track, I'll pay to see her in Lycra again and start following women's racing in depth. Did you get out for a ride, or are you just sitting there, bored and horny, thinking about women's racing? God, I'm bored, too. |

Any excuse is a good one. If you haven't noticed I'm the Lyne Bessette cheering section. Considering the the hassles she's had and the strength of the team 5th, currently, is pretty damn good. Bessette is very consistent, IMO, she is in the top 5 riders in the world, if I stop to think a little I might have to bump her down to the top ten but she is like I said, very consistent at giving great results in just about anything she enters. However last year in the worlds she failed miseably in both the TT and the road. In her interview she couldn't account for the bad results except that she did her best. She was coming off a broken collarbone. Dede is having a great race too. Someday someone will get a really good picture of her. Yeah, Dede is hot, but don't look too close or you might notice her twisted buckteeth, which she needs to take some of her race earnings and head to the specialists for either train tracks or some vaneers. A couple of years ago at a race she wasn't racing, she was in a black dress, sitting on a stone wall, just looking so exotic and Euro, reading a book. I don't think she was trying to create an "image", but it worked. I saw a photo of Bessettes from last years race, not sure which summer classic, but on the podium she was wearing something that looked like when girls wrap towels around their waist on the beach. Kind of odd. Gotta wonder if Jeanson will ever reach this level, as long as she stays with Rona, I'd doubt it, and if she isn't with them I'm not sure how she does without the handlers. Jeanson is a no go this year, and if she fails at the games, she could end up with a zero year. Actually her bad luck started last year at the worlds and she hasn't produced any results since. Not sure about Luperini but 3 T-Mobiles in the top 6 is a pretty damn good. Go Lyne Yup, USA three out of top 4 in Tour de L'Aude. Luperini won the Tour De Berne this year a short while back. BTW, CBC did a great job of the worlds last year, 11 hours of coverage is pretty good. Only downfall was when the sprint came for the mens road race, after the spainish guy won, they kept the camera on him, and missed the sprint for 2nd, 3th, and 4th and so on. What a idiot that cameraman was. What a blunder. I guess he's looking for another job. Bill C |

Why not have more than one camera at the finish of the biggest bike race in Canada in 27 years? |

What a idiot that cameraman was. What a blunder. I guess he's looking for another job. Why blame the cameraman? Why not have more than one camera at the finish of the biggest bike race in Canada in 27 years? Well, It seems what I got was from edited edition as interviews with Jeanson and Bessette were mixed in. If edited then maybe there was better footage that wasn't included in the final cut. Regardless what happened was unfortunate. Actually what happened was the cameraman had the camera on the spanish winner, and I guess he wasn't really on top of the action because he turned the camera back too late to really catch the sprint for the other places. They never did replay a nice follow through on the sprint for the other finishers. If that was original edited version, it sucked compared to the womens finish. In the womens coverage of the road race the CBC dropped the ball and missed airing the first few laps of the womens road race but when it came to the finish it was extremely well done. They replayed it over and over, at different angles with photo finish and more. You couldn't of asked for more, but when it came to the mens road race they dropped the ball right at the end. Another point is if they used cameramen that have covered other Pro cycling races or were the cameramen new to covering cycling races but in view of what happened in the womens race, maybe the mens race was botched in the editing room. I blame the cameraman based on what I saw him do with the camera. It was a blunder, but like you say if there were other angles of the footage, it's too bad it didn't make the final cut for airtime or reruns. The final of the Womens race was one of most exciting race finishes I have ever seen. Longo broke away early and stayed out and extended her lead. Finally Cooke panicked and took up the chase. When Cooke tired she became angry when others wouldn't take up the chase. Things were chaotic because all the girls would't work together in the chase. This added to Longos lead. Finally Melchers took up the chase, and twice she lead the charge up the climbs cutting lead down. Again Cooke took the lead and then finally again Melchers. The five girls in the break were going balls to the walls, Melchers, Lungskog, Cooke, Olga, Rasa I think. They caught Longo at the final corner. Longo gave it all she has, she was flying but it wasn't enough as the Top girls were too strong. Coming out of the Corner Melchers started the sprint early and only Lungskog could catch her. Cooke was unable to catch up. At the last moment Lunkskog lunged over towards Melchers and caught her wheel briefly before powering forward at the last instance to beat Melchers. Like last year I understand Melchers filed a protest as it seems Lungskog and Melchers always seems to be joined at the hip at the finish. Anyway, here's the clip! This is cool finish! 10 megs http://216.219.161.193/temp/Worlds-2003-End-Sprint.mpg |
