Lovely day
I went out for a lunchtime jaunt on Gino, as I had some club info to drop off
at the house of another club member who lives on the route of my usual cycle jaunt round the lanes. What a lovely short jaunt it was. Crossing the A47, a very kind HGV driver slowed to allow me time to cycle across (wot a gent - may his vehicle never have a visit from the puncture fairy). The sun was shining, the breeze warm, rabbits in the hedgerows... car drivers very courteous on overtaking me, giving me loads of room. perhaps the good weather is allowing for a bit of all-round goodnaturedness. All very, very pleasant. It was one of those jaunts where I felt as if I was just zooming along. In reality, zooming along is not a term that can be said to apply to me, but one can fantasize ;-) The only slight mar to the ride was a "whomp, whomp, whomp" sound getting louder and louder when over the hedgerow appeared a helicopter gunship flying at low-level. It was very big ;-) Cheers, helen s --This is an invalid email address to avoid spam-- to get correct one remove fame & fortune **$om $ --Due to financial crisis the light at the end of the tunnel is switched off-- |

Even the best rides become a little hazy after time but something out of the ordinary like that would lock it in the memory for good. |

What a lovely short jaunt it was. A day off today, and it's so nice here that I've been noticing *all* sorts of chores which require a bike ride around town. I should be doing my accounts; so obviously, taking that single newspaper to the recycling centre takes precedence. :-) The goodnaturedness hasn't got up here. I've been honked at twice, which is most unusual: once by someone who didn't like me taking the primary position through a single-lane railway bridge and getting in his way for three seconds, and once by someone who (I'm guessing) thought that I should barrel up to the roundabout and then stop and wait for the car on it to clear, rather than trundle gently down while it cleared and accelerate straight through, keeping up momentum. More and more I find myself mentally translating a car horn as "I'm too stupid to understand your manouevre". -- Mark, UK. We hope to hear him swear, we love to hear him squeak, We like to see him biting fingers in his horny beak. |

On second thoughts, in the interests of accuracy, perhaps there should be inserted: "...or too selfish to care." -- Mark, UK.
