I wonder if this incident was mechanical failure, user error or
something else.

The hypocrisy of the Police never ceases to amaze.
When something happens they call for dashcam or phone footage, yet if you film the Police they tell you it's illegal to film in public.

Here's the truth: it isn't illegal.

When the police tell you it is, they're just trying to get rid of you,
for some reason (I couldn't possibly comment as to why).

You ought to make a detailed and complaint against the Chief Constable.

Let us know how you get on.

PS: Don't use any foreign phrases in the letter, Del.

Since you are fluent in Unwashed Northerner can you explain why 'people' from Liverpool ask strangers 'Do you know where Simon is' just because you have a wris****ch and they don't?

Zut alors! Even for you, that's a bit esoteric.

Try English and stick to it, Del.

Truth is an absolute defence. It actually happened.

What did the cyclists do?

They had turned into pedestrians.

That makes a refreshing change to the headline. "Driver seriously
injured after crashing..." rather than "... hurt when car crashed..."

Shimmies are not pleasant experiences.
