Default Vote For Moderating the Group

I think that we need the group to be moderated or else we'll just lose
it to the nutjobs.

rec.bicycles.racing used to be a great group but it has really run
downhill.

I'd be willing to moderate the group if you wouldn't mind a 2 day delay
over weekends. Or maybe someone else can act as co-moderator?

Answer 1) Bush wants to investigate the Federal government's delays in
responding to Katrina, too.

Answer 2) Who's gonna' moderate Kunich?

It's a very clever feint, insuring that no one will take
any effort to moderate the group, by raising the specter
of what could happen if the Supreme Ruler were to abuse his
authority. This way, Kunich, the past master of digression,
pre-empts any attempts to rein him or us all in, and shows
that he is truly a Defender of Freedom. Because only by
threatening to destroy freedom can we save it.

It's positively Karl Rovian in its fiendish ingenuity.
All hail KUNICH, for he is the master of bureaucratic warfare,
of a subtlety that even Verbruggen could not aspire to.

I could go for this with Howard as comoderator as long as they both
have the ability to approve any post, but I'd rather keep the
responsibility on the individual. If you don't want to read it, then
don't. There are enough tools out there to limit the noise to whatever
you want. Personally I'm willing to live with the noise because since
Vern left, other than some CP meltdowns, it's been content oriented,
not just masturbating to personal abuse in public.

The very idea of anyone (least of all Tom) moderating this group is appalling
(sorry, I mean 'appaling') to me. How hard is it to skim through the headers and
"mark as read" the ones you don't find interesting? Or, shame of it all, use
killfiles? Or just leaving if it isn't to your taste? This stuff is pretty damn
basic. Pretty funny to see an attempt to Bill O'Reilly the group. I guess we had
some foreshadowing of how it would be when TK tried to keep people from
commenting on the passing of Keith Alexander.

My thought here was that between you and Tom we'd see everything
except maybe the Marty crap. I'm sure that anything Tom didn't ok you
would. Some of my other groups have been faced with the same thing, and
even under dedicated assault by D. Spencer Hines they've stayed
unmoderated, and there's nothing here even approaching that level.
Other groups I read have gone that route due to organized attacks and
complete disruption from hate groups. It's a tough call, but sometimes
necessary. I don't ever see it being needed here though.
