Default front lx der process for attaching cable

Cage is parallel to the chainring and 1-2mm above the large ring. Can
u suggest the best procedure for attaching the gear cable? Can't
explain why this part is baffling me. Spring pulls the der tight to
the frame with no cable attached.

Jam a screwdriver shaft under the hinge with the cage manually
extended to hold it there while you fasten the cable.

A large screwdriver works every time. Just jam it in
there like he said.
