Another Killer Cyclist walks free
Cyclists, we are told by some, may ride like idiots because they don't
kill people, or the people they kill are "drunks" or indeed any pathetic excuse that will serve at the time rather than admit that killer cyclists are killers. Killed by a cyclist, buried away in the news, and the Killer Cyclist walks away free with minor injury in an incident that he caused - reckless overtaking of a bus resulted in the death of a decent man. Fernando Izquierdo, run down by a dumb-arsed lycra-lout and killed. video here, from 12:12... http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...ned_Episode_2/ Report here, and note the way that the report by the CTC puts the usual spin on it, claiming the cyclist collided with the bicycle, not the truth that a reckless cyclist ran into the innocent pedestrian: http://www.stop-smidsy.org.uk/case-s...-cyclist-21411 |

At least with motorists they must pass a test before they can get a licence, yet any idiot can buy a bike and ride it like an idiot without due care and attention. |

I love the language you use: "dumb-arsed lycra-lout"; "Killer Cyclist"; "reckless cyclist". However, video evidence tells a different story. Four onboard camera show precise details of the cyclist, and the late Mr Izquierdo's final movements. The cyclist passed the stationary bus with good clearance and would have been visible to Mr Izquierdo as he approached the kerb. According to the police expert, the cyclist reacted in less than a second, but Mr Izquierdo who probably had looked, had not seen him. |

He may not have exceeded the speed limit on the street, but was going too fast for the conditions. |

(I am assuming that the deceased did not fall from the sky) There is nothing in the video to suggest that the cyclist could not stop in the distance he could see to be clear. Video evidence suggests that the hapless Mr Izquierdo stepped in front of the cyclist, making the distance infront of the cyclist unclear. The cyclist's error was not to anticipate Mr Izquierdo's actions. |

"He may not have exceeded the speed limit on the street, but was going too fast for the conditions." so 'careless cycling' or 'wanton and furious' charges would have been appropriate. |
