My Favorite Christmas Gift

The Boy Wonder set to work crafting an amazing scale model of various
cycling venues as a Christmas gift to dear old Dad. The following photos
depict what a 10 year old can do with several unsupervised hours, cardboard,
tape, paint, and a fertile imagination.

While I don't anticipate an art scholarship in the boy's future, I have to
salute both his ambition, effort, and originality. The love and respect
shown in this wonderful gift is just humbling. It was my favorite gift this
year, and among my favorite of all time..

That's the "bike" made from a pegboard tool hanger, paint, and a button.

Last, to cover all the bases, the roadie piece... Though they don't show
well in the picture, the fences along the side are designed to replicate the
barriers along the last km of Tour de France finish.

Dumster diving at Home Depot and Lowes has been very profitable for a
few people I know. My current Power Washer (Honda 6HP) was a recover.
One spark plug and a new spray wand later I now have a $650 washer for
$55. One lucky DD has collected an entire set of Ryobi powertools.
They ditch them for silly things like frayed wires. I guess it's easier
to ditch them than return them to the manufacturer. I never knew anyone
to do a dive at a LBS. I would think that most of them run on such low
margins they'll make use of every spare screw.

Nice work. My boy can come up with some of the wildest creations from an old
box, miles of tape and what ever from the recycle bin. Santa always gives
him a variety of tape , glue and a pair of scissors in his stocking on
Christmas.

knew anyone to do a dive at a LBS. I would think that most of them

I have tried LBS diving and flat out asking them for junk (parts to build
whacky bikes, doncha know) to no avail. They throw very little away around
here.

Hey, it's Spanky! Out from under his rock just in time for New Year's Eve!

So what's on tap this year, Spank-meister? Gonna get together with yer
buddy Boob Rodgers and compare perversions or spend the evening in a mutual
leg humping contest?

Actually, I'm going to run my NRS up to the shop after work, and have
them install a new crankset, bb and tires for me. Considering how much
I spent on those items, we'll see how much they squuuuuuuuuuueeze out
of me for the installation.

The only squeezing will be your ass cheeks while Bobby
installs his crankset.
