Default OT - How to set up a usenet news reader in outlook express?

I changed my internet provider and now use a gmail account. I can get
the email account settings but so far I haven't been able to get a
working connection to usenet (news account) in outlook. Any ideas?

Has your new ISP provided the name of their NNTP server? Most don't
these days. I know Comcast dropped theirs just recently.

yeah, I am still mad about that.

I am now with giganews for NNTP, on my home Comcast network.

Dear Phil,

Does your ISP even offer the service?

If not,
www.motzarella.org is free for text usenet and has a quick
registration.

If your ISP offers the service, they may have an FAQ like this for
getting Outlook to connect to a news account:
http://www.cam.ac.uk/cs/docs/faq/j5.html

More details might help.

Cheers,

Its google mail and there is no instruction for news in their help
pages so I assume they don't offer it.

Darn.

Dear Phil,

No, Google Mail probably doesn't include access to RBT.

But that's no problem.

Just go to www.motzarella.org and sign up there for an account that
lets you get RBT--motzarella registratiion is free and fast, and it
works about as well for me as the service that Comcast dropped.

Motzarella usually emails your password to you in a minute or two.

You plug your details in and get going.

Andrew Muzi went through a similar process when he got tired of
TerraNews playing hide-and-seek with him. He uses Mozilla Thunderbird,
I think, to get his daily dose of RBT.

Later, you can always switch to a pay service if you need more.

Cheers,

Carl Fogel

Outlook does not have a newsreader. Outlook Express does but others are
better.

After months in the wilderness I signed up with Motzarella
(
www.motzarella.org). Can't tell any difference from when my ISP offered
Usenet.

Highly recommended.

BS (no, really)
