Drivers 'need psychometric tests'

Would it do any good? It might be a bit easier than cleaning up the mess
after them.

It does admit that motorists also jump red lights and it's not just cyclists
that do it!

If you don't let anyone pass their test who contemplates speeding or red
light jumping I think there would be very few people passing their tests,
and it's rather unfair on all the younger people who even now have to go
through a much more rigorous test than a lot of the drivers out there.

If there is a way to test for whether an individual has the tendency to try
and run people off the road when provoked then that would be excellent.

I wonder if aggression on the road is correlated with testosterone levels.

I have just been to the DVLC web site where you can take the multi
choice part of the test, it's free and they give you 2 car and 2
motorcycle tests.

33/35, 32/35, 34/35, 33/35 I got. I have a motorcycle/car/minibus
licence and a cycle competency one. and I did do a theory test every
year...

Apparently a suggestion for one of the questions was something like
"Have you ever jumped a red light?" Imagine the scenario - Joe Q Public
sits in an exam with the intention of passing it, and he is confronted
with that question. I wonder how many people would answer "Yes" to that
one. it's like any other psychometric test - you just tick the right
answers whether or not they're actually true.

So no, if that's the best they can come up with then it won't do any good.
