The shifter can be removed and used as a down tube shifter. A thumb
shifter with the same lever is on the way, as are similar shifters for
the S3X and 5 speed wide ratio. In more good news, Torker has released
a road bike with the wide ratio 5 speed hub and drum brakes:

My own bike is a Pashley Paramount with the SA 5-speed hub gears and
drum brakes too but with I guess a heavier frame than the Torker.

I just love having so little maintenance to worry about. In 10 months I
haven't had to adjust the brakes at all. My style of riding wouldn't
put much stress on anything though, so it will be interesting to read
the ride report on the Torker after Eric "The Animal" Hunner has
finished with it. I'm not convinced the 70mm brake drums will be up to
the job. If he's going to be riding it fast & hard the 90mm drums would
be a better choice (and probably even then still inadequate).

pull increments are the same for Sturmey Archer and Sachs Torpedo 3/
SRAM T3/Sachs 3x7/SRAM Dual Drive hubs? Will the shifter for one work
