Check out the on-shifter indicator. Unlike more pedestrian Campy
derailleur systems, with this you can /easily show/ your envious
friends that...
...."this one goes to 11."

Lord Vader, The Death Star is Operational.....

This isn't just the IM9 or Rohloff killer.
This is the derailleur killer.

I sorta like the Alfine 8 + compact front double setup myself:

I think front derailleurs and rear tensioners are best avoided if at
all possible. They are both among the crudest and least satisfactory
parts you can have on a bicycle-- acceptable when necessary and just
annoying if not.

I take the previews with a grain of salt, but compared to Rohloff:

Pro:
100g lighter,
less than half the price,
36 holes available,
helical cut gears (probably quieter).

Con:
smaller range,
some larger jumps.

I can't agree more. If you're going to combine a hub with a derailleur,
something like the SRAM dual drive (3-speed hub with 7 or 8 speed rear
derailler) is most satisfying. I don't think anyone should have to
suffer a front derailleur if possibly avoided.
