The nice council has given these lawbreakers a little more time before the hammer comes down though. Shame, as that £36000 a day would do a lot of good. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull-...ail/story.html |

"Last Updated: Monday, 11 October, 2004", couldn't you find anything less than 11 years old? Around 24million trips are made in, to or from London each day. About 40% of those are by motor vehicle so roughly 9million or about 270million journeys per month. 2% are made by pushbike and at some junctions according to TFL 40% of cyclist ignore red lights, let's take 10% as a reasonable low average. So 500,000 pushbike journeys per day gives 50,000 red lights infractions by cyclists per day. In an average month cyclists, who make up 2% of the traffic jump 15 times as many red lights as motor vehicles which make up 40% of the traffic. |

The figures are from TFL, not the back of a fag packet. Your You Tube clip shows a disgraceful lack of enforcement. It proves nothing, other than your incredible idiocy. |

wrote: That is the reality, not back of a fag packet calculations. Well reality caused me to have to drive through the centre of London today, something I normally avoid. I saw the narrow band of abandoned tatty blue paint in the gutter which proclaimed itself to be "Cycling Superhighway No 7" During the journey I saw at least several hundred vehicles and perhaps two dozen pushbike riders. Probably the torrential rain had something to do with it. However, what I did observe was the number of motor vehicles jumping red lights which was one (the light changed to red as they passed through). On the other hand, despite their vastly smaller numbers, the number of cyclists who rode through red lights was about a dozen. Most went through long after the light turned red and weaved through crossing traffic often making the cheerful cyclist greeting of a raised finger when traffic with the right of way failed to give way to them.. One amazingly was a young woman towing a trailer with a child in it who breezed through a red light crossing Portman Street several seconds after it had gone red. I realise that cycling and honesty are words that do not normally sit well together, the doping antics of many riders from club to international level is ample proof of that. However, to try to assert, in the face of all evidence, that a higher proportion of push bike riders obey red lights compared with motor vehicle drivers is rather stretching credulity to Lance Armstrong levels. |

So the recent exposé of mass drug abuse amongst athletes means that a jogger in Hyde Park is tarred with the same brush? You might as well state that Schumacher's "crash" into Damon Hill was indicative of the culture of the current craze for "cash for crash" fiddles. Total garbage and you know it. |
