Another one killed on a pavement and a wall smashed!
Doug gurgled happily, sounding much like they were
saying: You're right, Doug. Â*There ought to be a law against it. Which seems not to be working. It doesn't? Lemme see - the driver's in police custody. Yep - seems to be working from here. |

This is becoming routine. Why can't drivers stay off pavements for a change? "Man killed when car leaves road in Hendon One man was killed and another injured when a car veered off the road and collided with them. The incident happened at about 0200 BST on Sunday on Hendon Lane, in Finchley. A VW Golf left the road and hit the pedestrians, both in their 20s, before smashing into a wall and catching fire. The second man received minor injuries. The driver of the car then left the scene. Police have arrested a 20- year-old man and he is in custody at a north London police station. Police are tracing the dead man's next-of-kin and a post-mortem examination is due to take place. Officers are asking anyone who saw the incident to contact them." http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/10248756.stm possibly saturday night cruise, sometimes the cars get out of control and mow down some of the onlookers, it has happened quite a few times. |

Doig: "Which seems not to be working. Maybe the penalties should be greater, as more of a deterrent and no more slaps on the wrist or victim blaming?" Reply: What? You mean there is a law and people aren't following it? They should be prosecuted - oh that's right they are. Problem solved. |

Yup, in a lot of roads, if the cars didn't park partly on the pavement, because of narrow roads, then there wouldn't be any room for moving cars. Pretty obvious really. Bod |

Where there are white lines on the pavements, the cars are 'legally' entitled to park with two wheels on them. At least, they are around here. I suspect, that in areas without these lines, that most car drivers park like that out of common sense, rather than blatantly breaking the law. Bod |
