1" quill fork replacement?
I converted a 1" quill stem to a standard 1-1/8 with a $20 part from Performance made by topo. Sounds like that might be what you need. CDB Chris, this kept me up all night. I measured the head tube on the frame with a caliper after I took the fork off. It's 1"diameter. I don't see how any part in the world is going to make it so I can get a 1-1/8 steerer tube in there. Am I missing something? Oh, wait. You mean the stem, not the fork. Never mind. ps |

For around town, that will be lower maintenance, work better, and look less valuable to thieves. I might even have one you could have, but it could be a 1 1/8", I'll have to check. Matt |

I'd like it to be trail worthy, just in case he decides to go trail riding. Penny |

It's got some good trail Miles on it from the early 90's! Matt |

Never mind. ps I'm sorry, Penny. the device I was referring to was what I used to convert my 1" ht on the SS to accept a regular 1-1/8" stem and corresponding bar, etc. I kept my old tange butted fork, but could have traded it out for a 1" bomber.
