Default Bikes Alive latest!

"Dear Bikes Alive friends

As you might have seen from the announcement that went up on the Bikes
Alive website last night, the next pre-announced Bikes Alive action of
organised self defence against the violence of motor traffic is at
Kings Cross, from 6pm to 7pm on Monday 23 January (see
bikesalive.wordpress.com for more details).

Cyclists and others will again forcibly, but non-violently, calm the
traffic at Kings Cross for an hour - both in opposition to Transport
for London's policy of prioritising vehicle speed above the safety,
health, and sanity of everyone else on the streets, and also in
opposition specifically to the lethal nature of the roads at Kings
Cross, where changes currently being made by TfL will actually make
matters worse.

Please also note a Bikes Alive planning meeting, expected for 7pm this
Thursday, in the Kings Cross area. Confirmation of the details will
follow later - watch the website...

BIKES ALIVE NEEDS YOU!

If you support this initiative, what can you do to help? Please:
1) Keep an eye on the website for news.
2) If you received this message indirectly, send us your e-mail
address for direct notifications in future.
3) If you're on Twitter, follow @BikesAlive to receive occasional
alerts - and check for others tweeting about #BikesAlive.
4) Actively spread the information about 23 January to local groups in
your area - not just cyclists' groups, but other environmental,
pedestrian, etc, campaigners who might be interested.
5) Contact all relevant blogs and other websites you know of, to get
this event mentioned (including a reference to
bikesalive.worldpress.com).
6) Come to the planning meeting if there's anything at all you can do
to help with ideas or actions.

If you want to see these actions getting bigger, happening more
frequently, and spreading around London (or even continuing at all...)
- it's up to you to help!

Posters for next week's action:
Attached you'll find some artwork, in 2 different formats (in the hope
that everyone can cope with one or the other of them), which you could
print out and put up at local cycle shops and other likely places, all
over London. They're not actually intended for people to post up on
hoardings in the Kings Cross area...

Best wishes

Bikes Alive"
