Default Recommendation for a Good Clincher Tire

I currently wish to upgrade my tires to a better riding, lighter, and
more sophisticated tire from the Vittoria Zaffir 700x22 that I am now
using.

I basically ride in dry weather on Ashphalt, and wish to buy a tire
with a bit better ride, and with less rolling resistance (Not
neccesarily looking for a high mileage tire, or on the other hand, the
absolutely lightest tire on the market either)

I have somewhat narrowed it down to the Michelin Pro Race 700x23, the
Vittoria Open Corsa CX 700x23, or perhaps a fine offering from a top
of the line Veloflex?

For race I use Continental Grand Prix 300 700x20 on 160 PSI, and for training anything from Michelin range...there is Michelin Meganium (120 PSI) on wheeles now.

I'm sorry if this topic has been covered before. I'm open to
suggestion, and I would like to hear your likes/dislikes with the few
tires I mention above.
TIA Mark

I've got two favorite tires; the Continental GP3000 in 700x25 and the
Vittoria Open Corsa EVO CX. The Contis get good mileage and give a
good ride. The Vittorias give a fabulous ride, but the mileage is
slightly less than the Contis. If I'm going on a long ride, 75+
miles, I'll have the Vittorias on. I've had Michelins before, they
are a good tire but an absolute bear to get on and off the rims. If
you have a flat on the road with a Michelin, two or three tire levers
are a must. I can get the Conti and Vittoria tires on and off with
just my hands.

I'll chime in here because I've been riding those Vittorias for the last few
months (Open Corsa CX TT, 23mm, yellow w/ black middle). They're indeed very
fast, and if you really want to minimize rolling resistance, they have a very
high pressure rating. I run them at 7-8 bar, with no problems yet, not even a
single flat. They seem to be wearing pretty well too. I'm not sure I like them
as much as the Avocets I had on my last bike, which were slightly fatter, a
little more comfortable, and probably just as fast. But overall the Vittorias
have been great.

Michelin Pro Race. 220 g (700x23), comfortable ride and stick well in the
corners. Not high mileage (expect around 2000 miles or so). Best prices
I've found have been from http://www.biketiresdirect.com

huh ! I love my Michelin Iron Mans and I have changed them with one iron for
off and bare hands for on with Rolf Vector Comp wheels which are reputed for
difficult tire changes (so "they" say). mto

Wow, 700x20 and 160psi, not too harsh? do you ever feel like you bouncing
around out of control? does it allow you to roll really fast?

I get many snake bites if I have Conti. GP300 700x20 pumped lower than 160 PSI.
700x23 Michelin i ride at 120 PSI.
I'm also an big rider....190cm tall (6.5") and weight 87-92kg (190-203lb)

At my weight, 190-195lb, with 700x25 at 100-100psi, I easily coast faster
down a hill than the majority of my 135-165lb friends. I'm also very
comfortable too.
