Don't these cyclists have any brakes? *or sense? http://www.shropshirestar.com/news/2...y-charity-cycl... ffs the road was wet i think and if you have a small amount of disel on the road it will disperse with the water making it impossible to see it.sporting bikes now have very steep fork angles about 75 degrees compared to a touring bike which is a very lively machine, especialy the front fork and wheel.i always check my brakes before a ride and when riding, just pulling the levers especialy if theres a long descent.handling this type of bike on steep deswcents and bends requires skill, but accidents do happen.ie the giro d italia on wednesday.the tyres are very narrow so have less rubber on the road and the tyre pressure is usualy between 110 to 130 lbs psi.the slightest skid can take the bike from under you throweing you on the tarmac or wall.i have ridden at very high speed myself at up to 60mph in races and time trials.the only other reason would be a brake cable snappingmbut the cable would have to be many years old for that to happen.its ok in a car, youve got 4 wheels and motorbike tyres are very wide.as he was training for a charity ride i dont think he had a need to go too fast, but many of us think were racing cyclists sometimes.im sure the road surface was slippery,by the time you start slipping, its too late to brake.sad on his family.
