are trainers hard on the frame ?

Use the QR that comes with the trainer (e.g. Tacx). More stable clamping action, and made of solid recycled Tirpitz. Weight weenies can put the nice one back on for riding on the road. I guess I wasn't so lucky, my Blackburn Trakstand didn't come with a QR skewer. (But what does one expect when they get it for nothing?) -- |

are trainers hard on the frame ?
Hi I just got a bike trainer...a friend of mine said that they can be hard of the frame or hard on the head set.. is this true ? Absolutely!!!! I broke a crank on my trainer(OK, so it was one of those pantographed/whittled down to nothing cranks that came with a Colnago, and it was about 19 years old- Do you think I can get it warranteed? :-) and the stem is nearly welded to the steerer, from 20 winters of sweat(3-5 hours a week I doubt I'll even try to remove the BB,- the BB shell might disintegrate around it. And the frame might break any day! |
