Default Patrick Thomas on TV - Completes Unicycle TransAm in NYC!!

Got this exciting news from Max Chen yesterday. The UniMan DID it!!
WoW!!
========================================

Just got off the phone with Patrick. He's about 80
miles west of Manhattan.

The big news is that he will be on Inside Edition
tomorrow 9/17/2004. Hey Patrick, if you get this in
time, could you give a plug for the NBG too? After
hearing your concerns about safety over the last
month, I think this would be a great opportunity.

So I'm not sure when Inside Edition airs in the Bay
Area, maybe channel 4, maybe 5 ish? But the interview
will be at 11am eastern time. His friend Ade is
joining him for the interview.

Anyway, sounds like he'll be pedalling across George
Washington Bridge with a few other unicyclists.

He is already thinking about doing it again soon,
before life catches up to him. But this time with
full vehicle support and funding. Maybe through Make
a Wish Foundation. One complaint he has about the two
organizations he is fund raising for is that they have
poor to nonexistent tracking methods. No one has any
idea how much money he has raised for them.

Basically he reflected on how unprepared he was this
time - how much he has learned about proper equipment
and proper directions. Also he is done with
this meditative spiritual solo stuff and ready for
some friendly company. This trip has been like a full
time job, often doing overtime. He legs are "like
timber blocks."

A few anecdotes so far:
In Lancaster, OH he rolled into town when there was a
wedding, bicycle race, motorcycle convention, and
rodeo, which meant no vacancies anywhere. So he slept
just outside the Holiday Inn between the fence and
some bushes. At 3:30 in the morning he was woken up
and told to move. A couple squad cars even came up.
At this point, he had a three month beard and was
wearing sweatpants (and he's black) so it didn't look
good for our hero. But the situation was explained
and things turned out alright.

He has slept in 24 hour post office lobbies and even
the back of a pickup truck at a dealership. ahh,
that's the life.

So he's almost done and has only one broken spoke and
a fresh new tire (4th).

He should be back in the SF next Monday evening. He
starts teaching again Tuesday. Looking forward to
connecting again with Don Loomis, Martin, Faye, and
me.

Just noticed this.

Seems a pretty amazing feat.

How come no one responded ? Was it because he was on a UNIcycle?

Anyway, well done Patrick!

Hope you made a good wodge of money for the causes you were supporting.
